We are waiting for a new delivery this week !! It should be in our warehouse already, but it is taking UPS forever to get the merchandise released from customs…anyway, we have some interesting new items that I ll be posting and commenting within the next days.
Rolando Alvarez (Elizabeth’s brother) is one of our new artists. This picture was taken in his workshop in Cusco. He had just finished one of his pieces, Madonna and Andean Child, really beautiful.
We sold a couple of his paintings before, but just recently have started working with him on a regular basis. He does a very original work. Instead of painting on canvas, he uses a manta which is a textured cotton fabric made and used in Spanish America. It features different patterns and designs. This is one of his beautiful paintings, St Michael Archangel slaying the demon (47 x 32″).
He works as well with golden backgrounds on high relief, such as this exquisite painting, the Cusco Madonna (47 x 32″).
Elizabeth introduced Rolando to us in Cuzco last year and I must say we were pleasantly surprised with his innovations and technique. His wife brought these unique paintings last month to Lima and after buying them, we made a special order of archangels and madonnas on golden background that will be arriving in a near future from Cuzco. We’ll let you know as soon as we receive them.
